Nagelsmann was replaced by Thomas Tuchel last week despite maintaining a 100% record in the Champions League this season, with reports suggesting that he maintained an uneasy relationship with the board and their league form faltering.

Tuchel was thought to be interested in the now-vacant role at Spurs following Antonio Conte’s astonishing outburst following the 3-3 draw with Southampton, and Bayern moved quickly to avoid being beaten to his services in the summer.

That means Nagelsmann could make a swift return to management this summer, with Christian Stellini and Ryan Mason taking charge until the end of the campaign, though Mauricio Pochettino is also in the running for a return to his old club.
