Inter Milan face competition in the transfer market this summer from an unlikely source in the form of Premier League new boys Luton Town.
The Nerazzurri are one of several sides interested in Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga, who is not thought to be in Spurs new boss Ange Postecoglu’s plans for the upcoming season following the arrival of Mickey van de Ven and the open desire to bring in another centre-back before the end of the summer transfer window.
Tanganga, 24, can play at right back or in central defence and is thought to be a low-cost option that Inter Milan believe can strengthen their backline after seeing Milan Skriniar leave for Paris Saint Germain earlier in the transfer window.
They are not alone though, with the Athletic reporting that newly-promoted Luton Town are also enquiring about the Englishman’s situation and could also table a loan proposal in the coming days.
The Hatters have spent sparingly so far this summer, and fell to a hefty 4-1 defeat in their first game of the season against European hopefuls Brighton. They face a trip to Chelsea next and are looking to strengthen before that game.

However, it is added that ‘Spurs’ preference is for a permanent move for the 24-year-old’, something that neither Luton or Inter are willing to offer as things stand. He also has interest from Turkish side Galatasaray and is expected to depart in the coming days.
