Manchester United are willing to offer England and Red Devils star Harry Maguire in part exchange for Mason Mount this summer as they look to find a way to meet Chelsea’s demands for the midfielder.
Mount, whose future has been up in the air after he rejected a new contract, is out of contract in 2024 as things stand, though new boss Mauricio Pochettino was keen to work with the Englishman.
However, the 24-year-old has agreed personal terms over a move to Manchester United this summer, with the Red Devils squad expecting him to join up with them in pre-season as the two clubs discuss a potential fee
However, they are struggling to meet Chelsea’s valuation of the star.
The west London side are currently holding out for in excess of £70m to part ways with Mount, while Manchester United’s most recent offer appeared to reach around £55m, well short of the Stamford Bridge side’s mega valuation.
One way around that could well be a player swap though, and according to the Mirror, the Red Devils are ready to offer up England teammate and Manchester United club captain Harry Maguire in a bid to get a move completed.
Maguire has endured a difficult season with the Red Devils, having managed just eight Premier League starts under Ten Hag and is seemingly on his way out of the club this summer after being warned by England boss Gareth Southgate that his lack of gametime could cost him a spot at next summer’s European Championships.
Whether Chelsea would be happy to take him on, however, given that they currently have a number of centre-backs and are looking to cut their squad rather than add more to it, is another matter however.
