Liverpool headed into the game having seen their form take a dramatic upturn in recent weeks.

The Reds went from sat in midtable to being just three points off the top-four.

And with Tottenham having not played this weekend when Liverpool kicked off, the Reds could have moved level on points with Spurs if they beat Bournemouth.

However, Bournemouth, who Liverpool smashed 9-0 at the start of the season, went 1-0 up just under half an hour played.

Philip Billing opened the scoring 28 minutes in following some questionable defending from Virgil van Dijk.

The Dutchman stepped out of the backline and allowed Dango Ouattara to get goal side of him. The centre-back had plenty of time to recover but seemed to almost give up on the chase before Ouattara eventually set up Billing for the goal.

“It’s all about attitude today,” he stated. “And if the attitude is right, then it’s about football.”

Given the lacklustre display of several Liverpool players on Saturday, it seems Klopp’s message fell on deaf ears, leaving many to wonder if the German has lost the support of his squad.

Who has kept the most clean sheets in a single Premier League season?
