The 2023 Community Shield played out at Wembley on Sunday and saw Arsenal and Manchester City face off.
Manchester City dominated the tie and eventually took the lead in the 74th minute thanks to a sensational effort from substitute, Cole Palmer.
However, the new injury time rules meant we had eight minutes of initial extra time, but a clash of heads saw that extended to around 13 minutes in total.
This gave Arsenal a way back into the tie as Leandro Trossard’s effort in the 100th minute deflected off Manuel Akanji and past Stefan Ortega.
The match went straight to penalties following injury time and after Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri missed from 12 yards, Arsenal ran out winners on the day.
Whilst the Gunners will have been glad to finally get one over on Man City, they are unlikely to be too pleased with the stat which has emerged surrounding the Community Shield.
