Chelsea icon John Terry has, on Friday, leapt to the defence of recently-departed Blues star Mason Mount.
The name of midfielder Mount, of course, took its place front and centre in the headlines at Chelsea this past summer.
This comes after the powers that be at Stamford Bridge opened to the sale of the Cobham academy product, on the back of a breakdown in talks over a new contract.
When all was said and done, Mount ultimately opted to take his talents to a direct Premier League rival, in the form of Manchester United.
And, safe to say, this call, coupled with his decision not to extend his terms in west London, have since left a sour taste in the mouths of many a Chelsea supporter.
Once viewed as something of a club hero, Mount has been subjected to heavy abuse over the last couple of months, his status as a potential Blues legend in the making firmly revoked.
Speaking on Friday, the one-time Pensioners talisman moved to defend Mount, assuring that he remains ‘proper Chels’.
From here, Terry also hinted that he boasts inside information, which could shift some of the blame off of the 24-year-old when it comes to his Stamford Bridge exit.
In turn, he concluded by pleading with Chelsea’s fans ‘not to be too harsh on Mason when he comes back’.
