West Ham and David Moyes have been dealt a double blow on Wednesday afternoon as it has emerged that new signing Nayef Aguerd will be sidelined well into the new Premier League season, while the club have also seen a bid for Filip Kostic turned down as they pursue further reinforcements.
The Hammers announced the signing of Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo on Tuesday evening, with the Italian becoming their third addition of the summer in a 40m euro deal.

However, David Moyes has been dealt a blow as it has emerged that fellow new addition Nayef Aguerd is expected to be sidelined for up to 12 weeks after picking up an injury during the first half of West Ham’s pre-season friendly against Rangers.
‘West Ham United can confirm that Nayef Aguerd has had successful surgery on the ankle injury he sustained in our pre-season friendly against Glasgow Rangers last week’, the club wrote on their website.
‘The Moroccan defender will now continue his rehabilitation at Rush Green with the Club’s medical team.’
‘Everyone at West Ham United would like to wish Nayef a speedy recovery.’
Kostic bid turned down
Meanwhile, the Hammers have seen their opening bid for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Filip Kostic turned down, having offered a total of 15m euros comprising of 12m up front and a further 3m in add ons.
It is thought that Frankfurt are holding out for closer to 20m euros for their talisman, who has just 12 months left on his contract in Germany. West Ham could also be hard pressed to convince the Serbian to ditch Champions League football for a spot in the Europa Conference League.
