West Ham United have enquired about former Arsenal academy graduate Yunus Musah as they look to find a future without captain Declan Rice this summer, it has been reported.

The English midfielder is widely expected to depart the London Stadium this summer, and reports suggest that a deal in excess of £100m is close to being agreed with Arsenal, which will make him a record transfer for both sides and will leave the Hammers with plenty of cash, but a massive hole in their midfield.

They hold an interest in Fulham’s Joao Palhinha and the recently relegated James Ward-Prowse as well as former Chelsea target Edson Alvarez, but it is likely that they buy more than one midfielder in a bid to replace Rice.

To that end, Spanish outlet Relevo report that they have initiated contact with Valencia over young USMNT midfielder Musah, who caught the eye during the World Cup in November.

A poor end to the season has seen his stock drop, and he is now available for around 25m euros, with the report adding that a sale before June 30th would be ideal for the Spanish side due to their financial situation.

Still just 20-years-old and with over 100 top-flight appearances to his name, he could prove a savvy addition to David Moyes’ side, which will once again need to be significantly strengthened this summer ahead of a return to Europa League football next season.
