An update on the wellbeing of sidelined Manchester United star Mason Mount has been provided on Saturday evening.
Midfielder Mount, a big-money summer arrival at Old Trafford, has of course spent the last couple of weeks on the treatment table.
On the back of a difficult start to life in United colours, the England international picked up a hamstring problem in a Premier League meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.
With fixtures set to come thick and fast on the back of the international break, boss Erik ten Hag, in turn, will no doubt be keen to have Mount back fit and firing at the earliest oppprtunity.
It will therefore come as a timely boost for the Red Devils’ headmaster to hear that, on Saturday, the player whom he pushed so hard to bring in this summer is indeed closing on a return to the pitch.
As per the reliable Simon Johnson of The Athletic:
It is added that an ‘outside chance’ exists that the 24-year-old could feature against Brighton & Hove Albion next weekend, but the United coaching staff are proceeding with ‘caution’, in a bid to ensure that Mount does not suffer a fresh setback.
