Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has, on Friday, confirmed that a key member of his squad has picked up an injury.
Real, of course, are currently in the process of preparing for an absolutely crucial weeks to come.
Though the La Liga title now looks as good as lost, Los Blancos remain on course for a potential cup double.
This comes with Ancelotti and co, first, primed to face off with Osasuna in the finale of the Copa del Rey a week from tomorrow.
And this, in turn, will be swiftly followed by the first-leg of the club’s highly-anticipated Champions League semi-final showdown with Premier League champions Manchester City.
Safe to say, then, that the last thing which those of a Real persuasion would have wanted to hear of on Friday was a fresh injury concern in the club’s ranks.
Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s La Liga La Liga meeting with Almeria on Saturday, Carlo Ancelotti was asked for the latest on the wellbeing of his squad.
And the Italian went on to reveal that midfield veteran Luka Modric is set for a spell on the sidelines, with his status for next weekend’s Copa showpiece up in the air as a result:
“Luka Modrić is injured,” Ancelotti began. “We don’t know when he will be back. We will see for the Copa del Rey final — we don’t know.”
