Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly given the green light for changes to the Chelsea squad already this summer, beginning with a swap deal that could involve several Blues players.

The Argentine is widely expected to take charge of the west London club at the end of the season, becoming the third permanent manager under Todd Boehly in just over 12 months of his ownership.

He is expected to make widespread changes to the squad, with far too many players currently at Stamford Bridge and plenty of deadwood set to leave, which could dominate their summer window when combined with the pre-agreed arrivals of Malo Gusto and Christopher Nkunku.

One way to solve that would be through swap deals, which would allow unwanted stars to depart in exchange or part-exchange for squad improvements.

That is exactly what the club are proposing, with reports claiming that they are looking into a deal that would involve a Chelsea player heading to San Siro in exchange for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Though he only joined last summer, Onana has become a key part of the Nerazzurri side, helping them reach a Champions League final and catching the eye of plenty of sides in the process.

While Kovacic, down to the final year on his Chelsea contract, is thought to be open to the move and a return to Milan, it is unclear whether Inter are equally keen on the move with plenty of midfielders already at Simone Inzaghi’s disposal.
