West Ham United team news & predicted line-up vs Chelsea

The Hammers have managed just one win in their last six Premier League clashes and come into the weekend program just one point outside of the bottom three, needing a strong run of points to avoid another possible catastrophic relegation campaign

Relegation-threatened West Ham United FC will look to recent results for inspiration when they welcome free-spending capital rivals Chelsea to the London Stadium for Saturday’s lunchtime clash to open the Premier League’s weekend program.

Four points from the last possible six on offer, including a relegation six-pointer against Everton, has seen the club remain out of the bottom three but hardly out of the woods under manager David Moyes. The Hammers could certainly view the timing of the clash against the Blues as a bit of providence given Chelsea’s struggles to make all the pieces collectively fit under Graham Potter this season, with even more names added to the senior squad and many remaining uncertain just what the club’s best XI actually is.

Predicted West Ham United XI

West Ham United Team News

  • Out: Maxwel Cornet, Gianluca Scamacca, Kurt Zouma, Alphonse Aréola
  • Doubt: Thilo Kehrer

Hammers manager David Moyes is likely to turn to a near-identical matchday XI on Saturday against Chelsea that he relied on to earn a credible point away at Newcastle United on Tyneside last weekend, with just one possible change in the vein of German international defender Thilo Kehrer likely being unavailable after coming off injured against the Magpies.

Alphonse Aréola is also likely to remain out after a hamstring injury saw him miss the action against Newcastle, with summer signing Gianluca Scamacca also not yet ready to return to full fitness, along with Maxwel Cornet and Kurt Zouma. Continuity may certainly be in West Ham’s favor, especially if a similar performance is on the cards when they welcome the Blues to east London.
