Continuing to struggle in his pursuit of a regular starting berth in Catalunya owing to a combination of injury woes and competition for places, though, it has been suggested in the media that the Spanish international could soon spring a surprise, in seeking out a move away from Barcelona.
And Man United, it would appear, are one club who would be keen to take advantage of such a situation.
