Reports emerged earlier in the day that Werner had agreed a deal to leave Chelsea for his former club, RB Leipzig, on a permanent basis.
Now, taking to social media himself, Werner has confirmed he is leaving Stamford Bridge permanently:

Werner joined Chelsea in July of 2020 from RB Leipzig for a fee of around £47m.
At the time, said transfer fee seemed like a real steal given how impressive the German had been with Leipzig.
In 45 outings across all competitions in 2019/20, Werner scored 34 goals and provided 14 assists.
His time at Chelsea, though, has been nowhere near as prolific. Werner scored just six Premier League goals in his first season at Chelsea before then finding the net on just four occasions in the PL last term.
In terms of a fee for Werner, Chelsea are only set to net 20 million euros plus add-ons, working out at a major loss.
Official, confirmed. Timo Werner has joined RB Leipzig on permanent deal from Chelsea for €20m plus add-ons and it’s now approved. Five year deal. ⚪️🔴🤝 #RBLeipzig
After Šeško for 2023, Werner joins Leipzig immediatly.
