Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat has reportedly rejected the advances of Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp this summer as he holds out for a move to bitter rivals Manchester United.

The Moroccan midfielder has been strongly linked with both clubs, with the two sides in need of midfield additions ahead of the new season and Amrabat considered a serious option.

Amrabat has previously been linked with Tottenham and Barcelona and was the heartbeat of Morocco’s history making semi-final side at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Now, he is thought to be available for just 30m euros (£25.8m).

According to sources in Italy, the midfielder is keen on a move to Old Trafford, to the point where he has turned down the opportunity to even discuss a move to Liverpool despite their recent approaches.

Any move may take some time, however.

The Red Devils have already completed the signing of Mason Mount in a £55m deal from Chelsea, with the Englishman taking the vaunted no.7 shirt at Old Trafford and set to play a massive role in their upcoming campaign.

This will depend on sales, though, and will also come after the arrival of another forward, with Rasmus Hojlund top of their list but Atlanta refusing to back down from their £86m valuation of the player as things stand.

However, departures are hotting up, with Alex Telles having already departed and both Anthony Elanga and Dean Henderson expected to sign for Nottingham Forest ahead of the new season for a combined £40m.

These exits could help facilitate a move for Amrabat, who would add some much needed depth to Manchester United’s midfield.
