Paris Saint Germain are reportedly having doubts over goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, and have drawn up a shock shortlist of three Premier League and ex-Premier League goalkeepers to potentially replace the Italian between the sticks for next season.

Donnarumma arrived in Paris on a free transfer two years ago, but doesn’t look to have gained the confidence of new boss Luis Enrique despite being one of the most highly-regarded shot-stoppers in Europe at the time of his arrival.

As per French outlet L’equipe, it is his ability with the ball at his feet that is the biggest issue, and Enrique is on the hunt for a technically proficient goalkeeper who could compete and provide backup to the young Italian.

They have claimed that PSG could move for one of Chelsea no.1 Kepa Arizzabalaga, former Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris or recently available free agent David de Gea as a result, with all three forming part of their goalkeeping shortlist in the French capital.

This in itself raises more questions than answers. De Gea, now 32-years-old, saw his time at Old Trafford come to an end precisely because he was not good enough with the ball at his feet to fit into Erik ten Hag’s system, while Hugo Lloris falls firmly into the same category in north London.

Kepa is also an intruiging option. Enrique lost faith in the Spaniard’s ability on the international stage while manager of La Rioja, dropping him from the squad for two years after initially keeping him as the country’s no.1. Though he is now no.1 at Chelsea, he seems to have the same faults that have been clear since that time.
