Saudi giants Al-Ittihad set their sights on the signature of a headline member of the attacking ranks at Tottenham Hotspur after missing out on Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah this summer, it has been revealed.
The subject of Al-Ittihad’s late-window efforts to add to the club’s frontline, of course, took its place front and centre in the European headlines.
This came after confirmation was forthcoming that Nuno Espirito’s side had tabled a series of record-breaking proposals for the aforementioned Salah.
One such bid, it is claimed, would have reached an eye-watering £215 million in the case of all bonuses being activated.

In the end, though, the powers that be at Liverpool stood firm, leaving Al-Ittihad with little choice but to turn their attentions elsewhere.
And, as alluded to above, on Saturday, the identity of one such alternative target identified late in the Saudi window has been revealed.
As per a report from transfer expert Mike McGrath of The Telegraph:
‘Tottenham forward Richarlison was the subject of late interest from Al-Ittihad on deadline day in the Saudi Pro League after they failed to land Mohamed Salah.’
Such inquiries ultimately proved to come too late, with Al-Ittihad having stopped short of actually tabling an offer for the Brazilian international.
A fresh approach, though, could be forthcoming for a struggling member of Ange Postecoglou’s squad following the turn of the year.
