Brentford striker Ivan Toney has returned to first-team training following his gambling ban, but is still some way from a potential return to Premier League football.
The England striker scored 20 Premier League goals last season but missed the end of the campaign and the beginning of the most recent one after being found guilty of breaching the FA’s gambling code.
The alleged breaches took place between 25 February 2017 and 23 January 2021, during which time Toney played for Scunthorpe United, Wigan Athletic, Peterborough United and Brentford, and the striker admitted to 232 betting charges after 30 were withdrawn.
It landed the striker with an eight month ban from Premier League football, though he could return to first team training after half of that ban had been served, something that he did last week.

Though good news for Brentford fans, they will have to wait a while longer to see him back in action.
He will officially be allowed to play football again on January 17th 2024, and could play his first game in the Carabao Cup semi-finals were the Bees to make it that far.
That could change though, with Toney having revealed that he is keen to leave Brentford in January and Tottenham among the interested parties, meaning that he could be lining up against his current side.
Arsenal and Chelsea are both credited with an interest in the striker, which could see him take on Nottingham Forest or Liverpool respectively, though again that could change were either side to both sign him and progress through the Carabao Cup.
