Revealed: What Barcelona must do to avoid losing Gavi in the summer following La Liga’s latest move

FC Barcelona have today lost their appeal claiming that they did not miss the deadline to request special dispensation to improve Gavi’s salary.

The commercial court’s ruling means that the midfielder will return to being a subsidiary player and his wage will be lowered back to its original value.

Barça’s new agreement with Gavi takes them over their salary cap and they must now find a way to facilitate this ahead of next season.

Mundo Deportivo claim that Barcelona must lower their salary cap in order to register Gavi for next season.

Barça agreed to improve the midfielder’s contract but ran out of time to apply for precautionary measures to enforce it as of this season.

Therefore, he will return to the salary that he had been previously earning as a subsidiary player.

The agreement would take them over their current salary cap so work must start to reduce this if they wish to register the 18-year-old next season.

The Catalan club now has twenty days to resort to the Provincial Court of Barcelona.
