France star Kylian Mbappe continued to etch his name ever further into the history of football on Sunday night, despite his country’s eventual World Cup final defeat.

The biggest game in international football, of course, played to completion a short time ago.

In the finale of one of the most memorable World Cup tournaments in history, the aforementioned France went toe-to-toe with Argentina, aiming to defend their crown as the planet’s greatest international side.

When all was said and done, though, almost as if written in the stars, it was Lionel Messi’s Albiceleste who lifted the trophy into the air of the Lusail night.

After an epic 120-minute encounter was eventually forced to a dreaded penalty shootout, the South American champions held their nerve, converting all four of their spot-kicks, to France’s two.

En route to defeat, though, as alluded to above, Kylian Mbappe made history once more.

All at just 23 years of age…

Not only that, but, in the process, Mbappe also secured Golden Boot honours for this winter’s tournament, owing to his haul of eight goals.
