Tottenham are closing in on their third summer signing under new boss Ange Postecoglu, and could be about to land their fourth too as Barcelona have revealed that they expect an agreement to be reached for the permanent transfer of Clement Lenglet.

Spurs, who missed out on any European football on the final day of last season, have already announced the signings of James Maddison and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, while they will also be able to welcome fullback Destiny Udogie into the fold and are closing in on a deal for Shakhtar winger Manor Solomon, who spent last season across London with Fulham.

The Lilywhites have also made deals for Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski permanent, to the tune of close to £70m. However, they are not set to stop there as they look to overhaul a squad that stuttered and stumbled under three managers last season.

Attentions will now turn to defence, with centre-backs high on new boss Postecoglu’s wishlist amid uncertainty surrounding the futures of Davinson Sanchez, Joe Rodon, Ben Davies and Japhet Tanganga.

The likes of Edmond Tapsoba and Micky Van de Ven have been linked with moves to north London, but it seems as though the first move in that department will be to strike a permanent deal for Barcelona defender Lenglet, who spent last season on loan at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Speaking to Spanish media, Barcelona president revealed that “I think we will reach an agreement with Spurs for Lenglet” after the Frenchman fell out of Xavi’s plans at Camp Nou.
