Paris Saint Germain star Kylian Mbappe has given the green light to a sensational Chelsea switch this summer, but on one potentially deal-breaking.
Mbappe is certain to leave Paris Saint Germain in the next 12 months after he refused to sign the optional extension in his contract at the Parc des Princes, leaving him a free agent next summer.
Understandably, Luis Enrique’s side are keen not to lose him for nothing, and have therefore put the 24-year-old up for sale, though he has already turned down a record offer from Saudi side Al-Hilal that would have seen him take home 700m euros in a single season.
Chelsea have also been exploring the option of a player-plus cash deal for Mbappe, with the Independent claiming that ‘Blues’ co-owner Todd Boehly is trying to put together a deal for the 24-year-old’ despite the west London side having no European football to offer next season.

Now, Spanish outlet Sport have claimed that Mbappe has agreed to join Chelsea, but only for the upcoming season, with the Frenchman having agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer, a move that will net him around £106m.
As a result, he would only be willing to sign a 1 year deal, something that few clubs would be accepting of. Chelsea are no different, with the Blues keen to tie him down to a longer-term deal.
Quizzed on his former player, Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino would not be drawn on the links.
“I think in our past we were at Paris Saint Germain and with Kylian and think I need to be conscious that I cannot talk,” said the Argentine. “Everything you talk is too much noise. It is a situation that is very delicate and one they need to fix in Paris with Kylian.
“For our side I have nothing to say. We are working on our reality, our reality is different. From my side, nothing to say, only to supporter them. I hope they find a solution for both sides.
“It is a club that I love, because I was a player, a captain and coach. With Kylian we create a very good relationship, I hope they can find the best solution for both sides.”
