Tottenham will demand at least £15m to part ways with Giovani Lo Celso this January with the Argentine thought to be among the targets that Barcelona are looking at to bolster their midfield ranks with midseason.

The Argentine midfielder has made just one substitute appearance so far this season, and is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, though unlike fellow midfielder Tanguy Ndombele he was re-integrated into the Spurs setup over the summer after a loan spell away.

However, with James Maddison, Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr all impressing so far this season and no obvious spot for the 27-year-old, Sport.es claim that Lo Celso is ‘beginning to consider looking for a way out in the next transfer window’.

To that end, they add that La Liga is the ‘most likely’ destination for the midfielder, who has spent time at Real Betis and Villarreal previously in his career to good effect.

Should any club wish to sign him, however, Tottenham will demand around £15m for the midfielder, who has previously also been the subject of interest from Aston Villa and former boss Unai Emery.

It makes a move to Barcelona difficult, with Xavi’s side huge admirers of the Argentine but still under strict constraints from financial fair play, something that was tested when they signed Joao Felix on loan on transfer deadline day, and therefore there could be little wiggle room left for the Catalan side unless sales are forthcoming first.

Out of the Carabao Cup and not playing European football this season, his opportunities for minutes in a Tottenham shirt look bleak.
