Liverpool’s move for Alexis Mac Allister is nowhere near as advanced as has been reported, with the Reds yet to make any contact with Brighton for the Argentine, according to reliable reports coming out of England.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has suggested that a deal for the midfielder is well underway, and that ‘Liverpool are advancing’ in their talks for the World Cup winner this week, though he adds that while ‘Alexis Mac Allister is keen on Liverpool move’, ‘there are still details to be clarified before full agreement on personal terms’.
Moreover, his father has suggest a move is forthcoming this summer too. “Normally the next [transfer window] will find him playing in another institution, we don’t know which one’, he explained last month. “The talks are just beginning in general, but it is most likely that Alexis will already be playing in another team next July.”
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp would not be drawn on the matter, however. “I’ve nothing to say, no comment”, he told the media following his side’s 1-0 win over Brentford on Saturday evening.

Despite all this, a move is nowhere near completion, and according to the Athletic, ‘there has been no contact between the clubs’ and Brighton ‘aren’t expecting any’ as they look to keep hold of the Argentine beyond the end of the season.
Liverpool are keen on the midfielder, but also have other options including Mason Mount, Manuel Ugarte, Kephren Thuram and Conor Gallagher.
The Seagulls are already braced to lose midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer, while Mac Allister and forward Kaoru Mitoma are also attracting interest from other clubs. They will also lose Levi Colwill, whose loan from Chelsea will end at the end of this current campaign.
