Arsenal and Manchester United may still be set to continue transfer business beyond the deadline as they look to trim their squads into shape until January.

The two sides were among the biggest spenders in the Premier League this summer, with Arsenal spending over £200m to bring in four players including briefly breaking the British transfer record to land Declan Rice from West Ham in a deal worth £105m.

Manchester United, meanwhile, spent over £170m on Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund, as well as shelling out for loan moves for Sergi Reguilon and Sofyan Amrabat.

One area that they have really struggled is sales though. Both sides were relying on departures and good fees in order to strengthen further beyond their initial outlay this summer, with Arsenal now looking somewhat light in certain areas and Manchester United having to eventually opt for a loan move for Amrabat after being linked with a permanent deal all summer.

There is still some hope though, despite their own transfer window having closed on Friday night. This is thanks to other windows still being open, in particular those of Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

United have already allowed Fred to join Turkish outfit Fenerbahce, and have been attempting to offload Donny van de Beek too, but have another fortnight to complete that deal before the Turkish window slams shut.
