Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made Manchester City legend and Burnley boss Vincent Kompany their no.1 target for the vacant role in north London, as they look to repeat north London rival Arsenal’s success with a former Cityzen.
Spurs are on the hunt for their third permanent manager in two years after they parted ways with Antonio Conte on last month, leaving his assistant coach Christian Stellini and former Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason in caretaker charge until the end of the season.
As it stands, it seems as though any decision will be made at the end of the season, however, with the likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and Graham Potter all linked with the vacant role.
According to the Sun, however, it is Burnley boss Kompany that they have made their no.1 target, with the Belgian having excelled in his return to English football.
Having got the Clarets promoted back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, his side are on course to break the 100 point barrier in the Championship and have lost just twice all season.
They add that ‘Kompany is believed to be ready to listen if Spurs make a move as he fears the Clarets may not have the funds to tackle the Prem’, which could allow Daniel Levy to swoop in as he looks to find a manager that will play attractive football in a bid to win over the Spurs faithful.
