Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with Google over the naming rights to their new stadium, with the Arena having lacked sponsorship since it was completed in 2019.

The Stadium, currently the newest in the English top flight, has played host to plenty of high profile games in that time, including Champions League clashes and last season’s north London derby which effectively decided the top 4 race.

It has also seen the NFL make appearances in England, having hosted New York Giants versus Green Bay Packers last wekeend, and it is the first stadium outside of the USA to host games of this nature.

Speaking in 2019, Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy cast doubt on following the trend of the Emirates Stadium, the Etihad and the AMEX, explaining that “We are only going to do a naming rights deal if we get the right brand, in the right sector, on the right money. If we can’t meet those three criteria, we won’t do it.”

However, David Ornstein reports that “The Athletic has learned that Tottenham are in meaningful talks with Google over naming rights for the 62,850-capacity stadium”.

The Technology giant would prove a massive coup for the north London side, with Google widely considered one of the biggest companies in the world and continuing to expand into gaming, phones and smart tech alongside it’s reputation as a search engine.
