Manchester City are growing increasingly confident of landing Arsenal scholar Ethan Nwaneri this summer as he continues to struggle to find an agreement with the Gunners.

Widely regarded as one of the most talented youngsters in the country, Nwaneri became the Premier League’s youngest-ever player when he made his debut as a late substitute against Brentford in September, aged just 15 years, 5 months and 23 days old.

He has since been a part of the Arsenal youth setup rather than the first team, but is yet to sign a senior contract due to being under 17, and it has led to interest from other Premier League sides.

Both Chelsea and Manchester City are thought to be keen on luring him away from the Emirates Stadium, with Chelsea looking to repeat the trick that saw Omari Hutchinson swap Arsenal for the Blues last summer.

It is Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, however, that are winning the race, with reports claiming that the Cityzens are ‘becoming increasingly confident’ of landing the 16 year old this summer.

Speaking earlier in the season, Arsenal youth coach Jack Wilshere sounded less than confident that the teenager would remain in north London beyond this summer.

Battling on the pitch as well as off it, Manchester City currently lead the Gunners by a point in the Premier League title race, but have a game in hand on Mikel Arteta’s side as they look to lift their fifth Premier League trophy in six years.
