Premier League outfit Leeds United have, on Thursday, been dealt some altogether untimely news on the personnel front.

Jesse Marsch’s troops, of course, are currently in the midst of preparations for a return to league action.

After seeing off minnows Accrington Stanley in the 4th round of the FA Cup at the weekend, the Whites will now direct their collective focus back towards top-flight survival.

Leeds currently sit 15th in the Premier League table, just a solitary point clear of the bottom three ahead of a showdown with Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon.

Safe to say, then, that with the winter transfer window having slammed shut just days ago, the last thing that Jesse Marsch and co. needed at this moment in time was news of an incoming long-term absence from the club’s starting line-up.

But, as alluded to above, on Thursday, that is precisely what has been confirmed.

As confirmed in an official statement across the Whites’ website and social media platforms a short time ago:

‘Rodrigo faces two months on the sidelines following an ankle injury sustained in last Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup tie at Accrington Stanley.

‘The Spanish international, who has scored 12 goals so far this season in all competitions, suffered bone and ligament damage as a result of a challenge and has undergone minor surgery.

‘The medical team at Thorp Arch are confident that Rodrigo will return to play by the end of March.’
