Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has left yet another record lying in his wake following his latest strike against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this Saturday.

The Egyptian forward had already flown past Robbie Fowler as Liverpool’s highest-ever Premier League goalscorer when he netted a hat-trick against Manchester United in the 7-0 demolition last month.

Now, he has become the club’s highest-ever Premier League goalscorer away from home, reaching 56, which is one more than Michael Owen managed during his spell on Merseyside.

After some good work from Diogo Jota, the Egyptian cooly fired past Ederson to give his side a 1-0 lead against the run of play against the reigning Champions.

The hosts hit back minutes later, with Julian Alvarez finishing a nice move to level the game heading into the interval, and setting up an excellent second half at the Etihad Stadium.

Better yet, he became the first Liverpool player to score against Manchester City in four games in the same season.

A point for either side would feel like a missed opportunity, with Manchester City currently eight points behind league leaders Arsenal and with the potential for the Gunners to stretch that lead to ten points should the clash at the Etihad finish all square.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s side would be six points outside the top four, though they would have a game in hand on fourth-placed Tottenham. More concerningly, they would be four points behind Newcastle United, with the Magpies having a game in hand on the Reds.

Both sides, therefore, will be desperate for all three points in the second half of what has been a combative affair.
