Tottenham are a club in a mess.
Despite coming from two goals down to snatch a point at home to Manchester United in midweek, the Lilywhites don’t have a manager, their director of football has been forced to resign after being banned from footballing affairs and their owners are detested by their fans.
Almost certain to miss out on Champions League football for next season, they are on current form a longshot for any sort of European football with Aston Villa, Liverpool and Brighton all breathing down their necks.
Despite that, they are already planning for next season, and looking for fresh faces ahead of a summer of what is set to be massive change in north London. Harry Kane looks increasingly likely to leave, and he could well be followed by the likes of Hugo Lloris, loanee pair Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy N’Dombele as well as the unpopular Davinson Sanchez.
They will have to recruit smartly, then, without the benefit of Champions League football, and are reportedly ready to raid Nottingham Forest should they be relegated.
As per footyinsider, Spurs are finally ready to address their issue in midfield by plotting a move for 23-year-old Morgan Gibbs-White, having been linked to compatriot James Maddison for the past four transfer windows.
With five games left of the season, however, Forest find themselves just a point above the relegation zone, and could yet drop into the Championship.
Should that happen, it is reported that ‘Nottingham Forest will find it hard to keep Gibbs-White at the club’, though they would be likely to demand a similar fee to that which they paid for him.
With Tottenham also on the hunt for new defenders, a new goalkeeper and a replacement for Harry Kane should he leave, it could be the first move in a busy summer in north London.
