Tottenham are exploring a deal to bring Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak to north London this summer as they plot a long term successor to veteran Hugo Lloris.
The French captain and Tottenham shot-stopper has made over 400 appearances for the Lilywhites, but is now 35-years-old and is out of contract in 2024, having signed a new two-year deal in January.
But, with only Fraser Forster as a senior goalkeeper in his stead in the Tottenham side, Antonio Conte’s side are looking for a long-term succession plan for Lloris.
In that vein, the London Evening Standard reports that they have sounded out Atletico Madrid shot-stopper Jan Oblak, with the Spanish side now open to selling at a cut-price after several years of demanding the full £107m release clause written into their no.1s contract.

“Oblak has a contract with Atletico until 2028 but the Spanish club are prepared to discuss a transfer for the 29-year-old after almost a decade of service”, they report, and as a result “Tottenham have identified Oblak as a primary target to be their next No1″.
However, they may face competition from Manchester United for the 29-year-old, with Erik ten Hag keen to upgrade his no.1 in the seasons to come and David de Gea out of contract in 2023, with speculation that the Red Devils may opt against triggering the one-year extension in his current deal.
For now, however, it is Tottenham Hotspur FC who are the most keen on adding Oblak to their squad for next season.
