Relegation-threatened Leicester City are on the verge of appointing ex-Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch for the final few games of the season as they look to avoid the drop.

The Foxes parted ways with Brendan Rodgers following a defeat to Crystal Palace, which left them in the relegation zone in the latest episode of a torrid season.

They currently sit 19th in the top-flight, two points outside of safety but with a vastly superior goal difference to most of the sides around them. On 25 points, they need to take 15 points from their last 9 games to reach the magical 40 point mark that usually represents safety in the Premier League.

As per the Telegraph, the powers that be at the King Power Stadium have decided that former Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch offers them the best chance of that, reporting that ‘an agreement [is] expected in the next 24 hours’ with the US coach.

‘Marsch is understood to have spoken with club officials on Thursday and is now on the verge of making his return to the technical area’, they add.

Marsch has been out of work since Leeds United sacked him at the beginning of February, leaving the Yorkshire side out of the drop zone only on goal difference and without a win in three months.

He was briefly linked to Southampton before the Saints ultimately handed the job to Ruben Selles.
