Manchester United and Arsenal are among the sides that have been put on red alert after Barcelona wunderkind Ansu Fati decided to leave the Camp Nou this summer, it has been reported.

The Spaniard took Lionel Messi’s famous no.10 shirt when the diminutive playmaker left for Paris Saint Germain in 2021, but has never managed to live up to its expectations. Still supremely talented, injuries and form have seen his opportunities severely limited.

Though he totalled 51 appearances for the Blaugrana last season, he started just 12 La Liga games as Xavi’s side became champions, and has fallen down the pecking order, playing just 11 minutes in their season opener against Getafe.

As a result, Spanish outlet AS claim that he has now decided to seek pastures new and they report that ‘Ansu has given orders to his entourage to find him a team’ that will see him playing regular football.

It had been mooted that the 20-year-old could be used in a swap deal with fellow La Liga side Atletico Madrid, a move which would allow Joao Felix to complete his dream move to the Camp Nou. However, AS pour cold water on any suggestion of this, claiming that ‘Atlético is not among the list of clubs with which they are currently in contact’.

Should he move, the Premier League seems the most likely destination, and Fati has previously been linked with Wolves, Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Mostly playing as a left-winger, he would have a hard time displacing either Gabriel Martinelli or Marcus Rashford at Arsenal and Manchester United respectively, while Heung-Min Son remains a key part of Ange Postecoglu’s plans despite a poor season last time out.
