Newcastle United continue to enjoy their resurgence in the Premier League during the current 2022-23 campaign as Eddie Howe’s Magpies sit sixth in the table while boasting the league’s top defensive record and look primed to continue their progression in the wake of securing billionaire-backing.
Having already spent £230million between the January window in 2021-22 and this past summer, Newcastle is not done yet when it comes to improving the senior setup immeasurably in order to genuinely challenge for major honors and have now set their sights on SSC Napoli’s Georgian international starlet Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Dubbed “the Georgian Messi,” Kvaratskhelia has set Serie A alight since his €10million summer arrival in southern Italy and has been a key catalyst for table-topping Napoli’s brilliant start to 2022-23.
Already a key cog in the wheel for boss Luciano Spalletti, Kvaratskhelia is joint fourth in the Serie A goal chart with 5 goals on his CV as well as adding 3 assists in just 10 appearances thus far.
The Tbilisi native has also shone on the biggest stage during Napoli’s Champions League campaign this term, adding 2 goals and 3 assists in four group-stage outings that have helped the Naples outfit sit top of Group A ahead of Liverpool and guaranteed passage into the knockout stage.
Kvaratskhelia has already proven himself to be a natural successor to club icon Lorenzo Insigne on the left side of the Napoli front line, and the former two-time Russian Premier League Young Player of the Year and back-to-back Georgian Footballer of the Year is already on track to perhaps become the greatest player his country has ever produced if current evidence is to be believed.
Kvaratskhelia has already been named player of the month in Serie A (August) and though he is viewed as a key piece of the club’s on-pitch project, a massive financial return for the player could be too good for the club to turn down.
The Georgian recently admitted that his footballing idols are both Cristiano Ronaldo and Guti will no doubt have many suggesting that he could one day be off to the Spanish capital, but with the existence of Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo on both flanks at the Santiago Bernabeu, Newcastle’s increasing profile in the Premier League – and the massive wages he could be set to make should he move to St. James’ Park down the line – could be too good to turn down.
