Manchester United and Erik ten Hag are set to be without summer signing Andre Onana for a month of the Premier League season after it was reported that a reunion with Cameroon is on the cards, which will see him take off for the African Cup of Nations midway through the campaign.
Onana arrived from Inter Milan in a deal worth around £50m this summer and has taken to Manchester United well despite the Red Devils losing one of their opening two games, though he was perhaps lucky to avoid giving away a penalty in the opening weekend win over Wolves.
However, they are set to lose him for part of the campaign, with reports coming out of Cameroon claiming that he will return to the national team setup.
The goalkeeper was sent home during the 2022 World Cup after a fall out with manager Rigobert Song following their opening group stage defeat to Switzerland, and has not featured since.

However, Song is thought to be willing to reintegrate the Manchester United goalkeeper, which will mean that he is likely to miss a month of the season to play in the African Cup of Nations, which takes place in January.
As it stands, United have no direct replacement for Onana, and face Wolves and Tottenham in that period, as well as the potential of several cup games. Dean Henderson is expected to depart, and the Red Devils have been linked with a move for Altay Bayindir with the goalkeeper having already undergone a medical ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford.
