Liverpool hosted Aston Villa in one of two 2 pm Premier League games on Sunday.
Liverpool headed into the game looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season, whilst Aston Villa were aiming to overtake the Reds in the table.
When all was said and done at Anfield, Liverpool came away with the win.
Liverpool got off to a dream start after a corner came in from the right wing and found its way to Dominik Szoboszlai who drilled it through a crowded penalty area and into the net after three minutes.
The Reds doubled their lead after 27 minutes when Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross and Nunez’s touch was put into the Villa goal by Matty Cash.
Darwin Nunez had a few chances to increase Liverpool’s lead further in the first half but his finishing was off and the score remained 2-0 heading into the break.
The Reds went on to see out the match with relative ease but they did lose Trent to what looked to be a hamstring issue midway through the second half.

HT: #LFC 2 Villa 0: Really impressive opening 45mins from Klopp’s side. Flew at Villa from the off – collective show of energy/desire. Szozboszlai’s strike followed by Cash OG. TAA has been outstanding. Should be further ahead. Matip/Nunez/Salah going close.

I can’t explain why but Liverpool are better at Anfield when it’s sunny.

10 – Trent Alexander-Arnold is the third player to assist 10+ goals in the Premier League in 2023, after Leandro Trossard and Mohamed Salah; it’s the third time he’s assisted 10+ league goals in a calendar year, after 2019 (17) and 2021 (13). Service. pic.twitter.com/9zCsDV7QgA
