Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery has, on Saturday evening, provided an update on the wellbeing of defender Tyrone Mings.

This comes, for those who may have missed it, after England international Mings set pulses racing across the Claret and Blue’s fanbase earlier this afternoon.

Mings, as expected, was afforded a start in Villa’s season opener, an eventual Premier League drubbing at the hands of Newcastle United.

Early in the action at St. James’ Park, though, the 30-year-old went to ground, in evident pain.

Immediately clutching at his right knee, Mings, in turn, was swiftly tended to by the visitors’ medical team on Tyneside.

Ensuing replays showcased the serious nature of the stopper’s concern, with Mings having twisted his knee in horrific nature on his way down.

Speaking to the media on the back of his side’s concerning 5-1 thumping, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Mings’ wellbeing was put to Aston Villa boss Unai Emery.

And the Spanish tactician went on to admit that ‘it doesn’t look good’, after his defensive stalwart’s first round of medical scans:

Emery, though, was not the only one to comment on Mings’ situation post-match at St. James’ this evening.

After also being drawn on the defender’s situation, Eddie Howe, who spent time managing Mings during a shared stint at Bournemouth, took advantage of the opportunity to send his ‘love’ the way of the Englishman:
