Liverpool face off with Manchester City in a Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Klopp discussed a number of topics in his presser, including how to stop Erling Haaland: “When you play against currently the best striker in the world you have to make sure he doesn’t get the ball. The problem v City is if you close him down with too many players it opens space for other world class players.”
On Haaland, he added: “Salzburg, we played them. What is it about him? Even when he was very young you could see the potential. I don’t think he started at Anfield but we were already pretty busy thinking about him and how to close him down. He scored anyway!”
Klopp also expressed his concern at Liverpool continuing to concede first in matches: “First goal conceding is a concern. We played really good football in early stages (at Rangers) then we lost the ball in moment where we weren’t compact because we couldn’t be. These things happen.”
Liverpool vs Manchester City
Liverpool kick off the weekend’s action down in 10th place in the Premier League.
The Reds have won just two of eight games and their title hopes are all but over already.
However, the Sky Blues are not currently top of the Premier League, as Arsenal are one point above them.
It seems very likely that Man City will go top sooner rather than later, though, with the Gunners now likely City’s biggest rivals this year ahead of Liverpool.
