Premier League bottom-feeders Southampton will be hoping that new signings will play a critical role in insuring the club’s top-flight survival for the rest of the 2022-23 campaign as Nathan Jones’ Saints head north to the capital to clash with in-form Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Saints have managed a three-point haul just once in recent weeks (1-0-5) and once again the club finds itself embroiled in a fight for survival despite the managerial change that saw Jones replace Austrian headmaster Ralph Hasenhüttl earlier in the season, but the additions of Mislav Oršić, Paul Onuachu, and Kamaldeen Sulemana could offer a significant upgrade in firepower in the forward line to possibly perpetrate a great escape act on the south coast.

Predicted Southampton XI
Southampton Team News
- Out: Tino Livramento, Kyle Walker-Peters, Juan Larios
- Doubt: Alex McCarthy, Moussa Djenepo
Nathan Jones will have to contend with two key injuries in defense when Saints travel to London to clash with Brentford on Saturday. Both Tino Livramento and Kyle Walker-Peters, with Livramento remaining out of contention while KWP picked up a hamstring injury during the club’s Carabao Cup semi-final clash.
Juan Larios is also out and unavailable for selection, while Moussa Djenepo may be back into the matchday squad after recovering from a head injury but would not be expected to start. Late January signings Kamaldeen Sulemana (Stade Rennais) and Paul Onuachu (KRC Genk) are both fit and available but neither is expected to come into the XI, though they could very well make an appearance off the bench to make their Premier League debuts.
