Real Madrid have been declared ‘huge admirers’ of Reece James as they look to plot a potential move for the Englishman, but Los Blancos will be met with stiff resistance from Chelsea should they make any attempt to sign him this summer.

The current face of Chelsea’s Cobham academy and tipped to be one of the best right-backs in World football in the near future, James signed a new deal in West London that will, in theory, keep him at the club until 2028.

Despite this fact, sources in Spain claim that the Englishman is top of Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid’s wishlist as they look to find life beyond Dani Carvajal.

The Spaniard, now 31-years-old, has been an outstanding servant for Los Blancos, racking up over 350 appearances and winning the Champions League on five occasions, but his best years are now behind him.

And Chelsea’s star is the man that they have apparently turned their eye to, though it seems a very unlikely deal to do given the circumstances and how much the Blues would demand for their right-back.

Graham Potter’s side are expected to have a fire sale this summer with plenty of stars out of favour at Stamford Bridge, and could even sell some home grown talents such as Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher, but James is very much expected to stay put.

Though he has struggled with his injury problems, there seems to be almost zero chance the Blues will be looking to let James join, which may force Real Madrid to look at their alternatives sooner rather than later.

The two sides meet in the Champions League last eight this month, with Madrid looking to defend the crown that they won last year, while the competition represents Chelsea’s last chance at silverware this season.
