A long-time member of the defensive ranks at Spanish giants Real Madrid has, on Sunday, confirmed his decision to stay put.
The player in question? Nacho Fernandez.
For those not aware, Nacho’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu had long remained up in the air leading into the summer transfer window.
This comes with the veteran stopper’s current terms due to come to a close at the end of the month.
Real, for their part, had long made clear their hope that Nacho would ultimately opt to stay put, with the Spaniard remaining an important member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
In turn, it will no doubt come as a boost for all associated with Los Blancos to hear that Nacho, finally, has come to the decision to extend his stay in Madrid.
And Nacho went on to confirm that he is ‘looking forward’ to another year in Real’s colours, ahead of putting pen to paper on a contract through the summer of 2024:
“I’m going hand in hand with my club and my family. There are always, of course, offers from outside, but I’ve decided to stay for another year. I’m happy about it and I’m looking forward to staying there.”
Nacho has said he will stay at Real Madrid for another year despite attracting interest from several suitors.
