Match Preview & Prediction
Group D owe Rúben Amorim’s Sporting CP a debt of gratitude for their matchday five results against group leaders Tottenham in a 1-1 draw that kept all four club’s in the hunt for the knockout stages, and the Portuguese giants will be hopeful of a better result in front of home support at the Estádio José Alvalade tomorrow against visiting Bundesliga outfit and holding Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt.

The pair come into proceeding in the Portuguese capital level on seven points, just one behind Spurs, and only one ahead of Olympique de Marseille. Though a draw is good enough for Sporting to reach the round of sixteen, Amorim will want a full load of points on the night despite the club’s struggles to find goals in front of home support.
💯 focus on Oliver Glasner …👀

Visiting Frankfurt under Oliver Glasner will be just as desperate to make the next step in their own evolution after last season’s success in the Europa League, and a win over Marseille last time out has them in a better recent run of form in the group than the hosts. Both sides lost at the weekend on the domestic front, however, with Sporting’s shock away loss against in-form Arouca ringing alarm bells on both fronts.
Both sides have some credible fitness concerns, but this could be a very tricky tie to call. Eintracht needs a win if they are to guarantee passage into the next round, and though a draw will suit Sporting, Amorim will want a win at home and momentum into the next round. An open, attacking fixture could be on display, with either side capable on their day, but a draw could be the result.
Prediction: Sporting CP 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt
