Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. was this evening on the receiving end of a string of racially-motivated abuse, during the club’s meeting with Real Valladolid.
Los Blancos were of course back in action a short time ago.
In their return to action on the back of the World Cup break, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops made the trip to the Estadio José Zorrilla, for a showdown with the aforementioned Valladolid.
Real headed into proceedings in the knowledge that a victory would guide them back clear of Clasico rivals Barcelona to the summit of the La Liga table.
And, when all was said and done, emerge triumphant is precisely what the evening’s visitors went on to do.
After a string of stellar saves on the part of Thibaut Courtois kept Valladolid at bay, Karim Benzema proved himself hero, courtesy of a match-winning brace inside the closing ten minutes.
