Liverpool have made an official approach for Fluminese midfielder Andre as they look to add another star to their ranks ahead of the new season, while they have also tabled a second bid for Southampton talent Romeo Lavia.
The Reds have already signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in deals worth a combined £100m this summer, but have seen several midfielders depart this summer including influential pair Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, both of whom have headed to Saudi Arabia in deals worth a combined £52m.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have made Lavia their no.1 target this summer, and having seen one £37m bid rejected by the Saints are thought to have tabled a second offer in the region of £42m, though it remains to be seen whether Southampton will be willing to compromise on their £50m valuation of the teenager.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea are also thought to be keeping tabs on his progress, while Manchester City also have a buyback clause set at £50m which comes into effect next summer.

Meanwhile, the Reds are also thought to be in contact with Brazilian side Fluminese over a potential £21m for 22-year-old midfielder Andre.
Represented by Jorge Mendes, the Brazilian is set for a move to Europe this summer and was thought to be on the radar of Sporting, who parted ways with Manuel Ugarte earlier in the summer.
Making his Brazil bow in June’s international break, Andre plays primarily as a defensive midfielder and has appeared over 130 times for his current side.
