Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure as they look for a replacement for Fabinho this summer.

The Brazilian has been left out of Liverpool’s travelling squad for the pre-season tour of Germany as he looks to complete a move away to Saudi Arabain side Al-Ittihad, who have bid £40m for his services.

It will complete a major revamp of the midfield available to Jurgen Klopp, with the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai having already taken place in recent weeks.

They are now looking to add another defensive midfielder to their ranks, with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia thought to be one of those under consideration, though Southampton are for now holding firm on their £50m asking price amid interest from Arsenal too.

Another option that Klopp is reportedly considering comes in the form of Doucoure, who has only been in the Premier League for t2 months following a move to Crystal Palace from RC Lens in a deal worth around £25m.

According to the Athletic, the Ivorian has caught the eye of the Anfield outfit and they could well turn their admiration into formal interest in the coming weeks.

Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara, who arrived at Villa Park on a free transfer last summer, is also under consideration along with Ryan Gravenberch, Sofyan Amrabat and Kalvin Phillips.

Meanwhile, they could lose yet another midfielder as captain and veteran Jordan Henderson closes in on a move to Al-Ettifaq, where he will reunite with Steven Gerrard.
