Manchester United are eyeing up Everton and England no.1 Jordan Pickford this summer as they look replace David de Gea in between the posts at Old Trafford before the new season commences.
De Gea is set to sign a new contract at Manchester United but may not be no.1 next season, despite winning the Premier League golden glove ahead of the likes of Aaron Ramsdale and Alisson last season.
“I will not say he’ll always be my No.1 because in a club like Man United there must be competition in all positions. You can’t do it with 11 players”, Ten Hag explained in the aftermath of the FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City.
“It is impossible. You need double positions”, he added.
To that end, the Sun report that Ten Hag has identified England no.1 Jordan Pickford as the man to compete for the no.1 spot in Manchester, with the 29-year-old having excelled as Everton narrowly beat relegation for the second consecutive season.

Though he only penned a new contract with the Toffees earlier in the year, it is thought that the 29-year-old could be available for just £30m, with Everton continuing to struggle financially and Sean Dyche keen to add reinforcements to his side.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are keen to push on with a deal for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, who has agreed personal terms with the Red Devils. They are also targetting a striker but have been warned off Harry Kane by Tottenham.
