News that Manchester United is officially up for sale was always going to garner serious investment interest given the stature of the Premier League giants but rumored interest from global tech juggernaut Apple might have taken things to a whole new level.
As reported by Daily Star Sports, Apple CEO Tim Cook is keen to explore the possibilities that would come with United ownership as the world’s leading tech company, with Cook said to be considering sitting down with The Raine Group and other banks that have been appointed as sale overseers.

The situation at Old Trafford has come to a head in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo’s scathing interview with English TV personality Piers Morgan when the Portugal icon made mention of the many frustrating aspects that have come with his second-stint at the Theatre of Dreams, including critical comments about Glazer ownership and the fact that the club has not taken steps forward with massively outdating facilities that have not changed since his first spell with the club.
It was reported yesterday that Sir Jim Radcliffe was in line to make a formal bid for the club at some stage after previously being beaten out by Todd Boehly in the race for Chelsea, but possible interest from Apple would present a financial avenue for the club that would leave the club on a financial plateau of its own.
Should Apple pull the trigger and meet the Glazer’s initial unreasonable valuation of £8.25billion, United would become by far the richest football club on the planet overnight on the back of Apple’s current estimated net worth of £2trillion, while the company boasts an annual revenue of £326billion.
While it stands to note that the company has no experience when it comes to franchise ownership in any sport let alone football, it would be reasonable to suggest that the company would seek to hire the top minds in the football world to guide the club on and off the pitch, with part of Cook’s plan said to include moving United into a new state-of-the-art stadium and away from its ancestral home in a bid to push the club forward on all fronts; moves that Arsenal, Tottenham, and Everton have put faith in.
