Liverpool have reportedly tabled a 45m euro offer for defender Piero Hincapie as they look to add another defender to their ranks ahead of the transfer window closing next Friday.
The Reds# recruitment have focussed largely on midfield this summer, but Jurgen Klopp would still like to add another centre-back to his side to provide cover for Virgil van Dijk on the left side of defence.
As it stands, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are options to provide cover for the Dutchman, and Jurgen Klopp’s side have been linked with moves for Mickey Van de Ven and Levi Colwill already this summer, though the former has joined Tottenham and the latter signed a new contract with Chelsea.
Now, Bild report that they have tabled an opening offer for 21-year-old Ecuadorian defender Piero Hincapie in the final days of the transfer window, with the young defender having impressed at Bayer Leverkusen and previously been on the wishlists of Arsenal and Tottenham.
Xabi Alonso’s side are not keen to sell, however, and will demand around 70m euros (£64m) to part ways with the defender this close to the transfer deadline, they claim.
Hincapie only signed a new deal in February, and his new contract runs until 2027, which means that the German side are under no presure to sell, while they have already parted with Moussa Diaby this summer, who joined Aston Villa.
