Both sides headed into the game having experienced a poor 2022/23 so far.
Chelsea kicked off 10th in the division whilst Liverpool were 9th. The Reds had also most recently suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Brighton in the league.
As a result, this game was huge for both sides, with the loser’s European hopes taking a major hit.
And, at the time of writing, the score remains locked at 0-0.
Chelsea thought they had opened the scoring just a few minutes in but Kai Havertz was offside.
As for Liverpool, they struggled to really test Kepa apart from a few skyed efforts on the part of Cody Gakpo.
Elliott, however, has looked pretty poor so far vs Chelsea and has received a lot of criticism from fans online:
I can’t fucking stand Elliott oh my god. He’s so bad and being on the LW is making him look somehow worse

Harvey Elliott just offers NOTHING! We can put anybody over there to make the simple pass! He just doesn’t do anything!

Harvey Elliott had so much time and space and does nothing with the ball. Kid needs to be loaned out
